Overfarmed
This game was a fun group project made during my third year of university. The module was to create a game based on a provided word prompt. These ranged from abstract words like "hierarchy" to more common nouns like "magnet" or in our group's case, "blight". The initial idea was to create a rhythm based arena shooter similar to "Metal: Hellsinger" which had released a short time before the start of the ideation process. However, during a period of time, no real progress had been made. Therefore, a rethink was in order.

The final decision was to make an isometric 3D farming game that would incorporate a similar level of mania as games like "Plate Up" and "Overcooked" by using local co-op and roguelike systems. The aim of the game is to meet a daily quota of money by planting and harvesting crops of different values then selling them. The currency you obtain is then usable to purchase upgrades that would affect your run of 7 days. The quota would increase in requirement and foxes would frequently spawn to steal the player's money. Alongside this the crops could begin to become blighted as of the second day. These blighted plants would spread the blight to other plants and would self-destruct after 30 seconds. To help counter the blight and the foxes, the player is given free use of a flamethrower. However, this should be used sparingly as it can destroy the healthy plants by setting them ablaze! The player could also engage in local co-operative multiplayer when another input device was detected.

My contributions to the development of this game include User Interface design and creation both in-game and menu systems. I also contributed to a number of in-game functions. Examples of this would include the upgrade menu/shop, day to night cycle and timer systems which are tied to quotas and AI controls.

The game is available to download from itch.io through the button below. It does feature a few bugs but with some work it could be up for a full release on wider platforms like Steam.
